The Web gives us useful new tools for sharing information. A great example was our Web seminar today, a roundtable discussion about radio technical developments with David Layer of NAB, Milford Smith of Greater Media and the NRSC, and Mike Starling of NPR.

Sometimes there’s no substitute for sitting around chatting with newsmakers; but it’s easy for us in the news biz to forget how precious that access and information can be. Hopefully we use it wisely!

The “Techcast” we did today touched on tagging, RDS revenue, the HD Radio power increase (and everything that’s been going on with that behind the scenes), consumer electronics trends (think “radio in new portable devices”) and a great deal more. You can watch and listen to it in archive form.

I was struck among other things by the overall optimism about radio shown by our guests, and by their general sense that an HD Radio power increase can be worked out to general agreement.
