Broadcasting consultant and educator Jonathan Marks of Critical Distance is putting together a documentary about the role of radio in society using case studies and interviews he's conducted with stations around the world over the past five years. Marks has posted the a trailer for "In Search of the Future of Radio" on his gadgets blog. It looks interesting, but there's no release date set as of yet.

In Search of the Future of Radio: Coming Soon

Yes, there IS a future for radio, and it is online. As ownership consolidates and terrestrial listeners dwindle, radio is quickly becoming a content provider that also happens to broadcast over-the-air. The huge benefit to stations using devices like NewTek TriCaster is that instead of waiting for the next ratings book, they enjoy immediate web metrics on what is successful and what isn't. That sort of instant feedback can really help crush the competition. Paul Lara NewTek
