Larrosa to be Honored With NRB Award
Trans World Radio’s International Director of Ministries, Lemuel Larrosa will receive the National Religious Broadcasters’ International Individual Achievement Award at NRB 2013 Convention and Exposition’s international keynote session on March 5, in Nashville, Tenn.
The award is presented each year to a non-U.S. resident or citizen “who demonstrates a strong personal commitment to proclaiming Christ through electronic media, working with integrity and faithfulness to influence a culture for Christ,” according to an NRB press release.
“Lemuel has been a faithful servant of Christ, with nearly five decades of service in radio and pastoral ministry,” said NRB President and CEO Dr. Frank Wright.
Larrosa has been involved in radio as a presenter, producer and speaker for 46 years — 36 with Trans World Radio. Based in Uruguay, he has served as TWR’s International Director of Hispanic Ministries since 2000, and he founded Radio Trans Mundial Uruguay in 1981 and served as its national director for nearly 20 years.
Larrosa has also served as the host/presenter of “A Través de la Biblia” — “Through the Bible in Spanish” — for the last nine years. He has also been a speaker on several other Spanish programs aired by TWR, in addition to programs aired locally in Uruguay.
At the same session, Haiti’s Radio 4VEH will be presented with the NRB International Radio Ministry Award.
The NRB says this award is presented annually to an organization based outside the United States that excels in radio, while “exercising integrity and faithfulness to the cause of Christ, while demonstrating unusual effectiveness in impacting the target culture with the Gospel.”
“Radio 4VEH is a ministry of OMS International that reaches, teaches and serves through radio,” said Wright.
Radio 4VEH has been on the air since 1950, filling a void because much of the Haitian population is illiterate. From its base near Cap-Haitien, the broadcaster reaches up to one million listeners, broadcasting on AM, FM and on the Internet in both Haitian Creole and French. The station also increased its listenership with the distribution of solar-powered radios fix-tuned to Radio 4VEH.
The annual NRB Convention and Exposition will be held March 2–5 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.
