Digigram Adopting Ravenna
Audio sound card and distribution equipment manufacturer Digigram
has announced a “deeper collaboration” with audio technology developer ALC
NetworX and its Ravenna audio over IP technology spec.
A Digigram release said, “the full Digigram product line”
would be “powered” by Ravenna. It also said that the company was at work on a
sound card, the LX-IP.
Digigram CEO Philippe Delacroix said: “As the industry
continues to evolve, we are confident that Ravenna and the AES67 standard will
be employed widely by the broadcast industry to replace AES and MADI. For this
reason, we have made the strategic decision to implement Ravenna into all of
our existing products, such as our audio over IP codecs, as well as new
products under development.”
ALC NetworX Senior Product Manager Andreas Hildebrand
explained the open standard spec: “Ravenna operates in existing network
infrastructures using standardized network protocols and technologies.
Performance and capacity thus scale with the capabilities of the underlying
network architecture, in turn allowing broadcasters to achieve their
requirements for low latency, full signal transparency, and high reliability.”
It is compatible with the recently ratified AES67 audio over
IP industry standard.
