2013 IEEE Broadcast Symposium Will Move

The IEEE Broadcast Symposium, going
on now here in the Washington area, will move to new locations for at least the next two years.
Lond held in the D.C. area, the IEEE Broadcast Symposium will move to San Diego in 2013, then to San Antonio in 2014.
Both events will be held in mid-October, but
exact dates and details about location are to be announced soon, according to the
IEEE.

Though they historically have held their event in the Washington metro, organizers have been trying to grow it. The administrative
committee of the IEEE’s Broadcast Technology Society, which organizes the
symposium, said they want to provide a “greater variety of venue” and better
serve the members, both here and abroad.
Officials made the announcement at this
year’s symposium, which is taking place now in Alexandria, Va. through Friday. James O’Neal of TV Technology and Radio World snapped some photos, shown, and Radio World will have more coverage this week.
The organization's mission statement: “The IEEE
Broadcast Technology Society is one of the technical societies of the
IEEE. The field of interest of the BTS encompasses devices, equipment,
techniques, and systems related to broadcast technology, including the
production, distribution, wired and wireless transmission, propagation aspects
and reception.”
