Smarts Broadcast Systems is introducing Skylla, a multi-station Linux-based automation system.

It can be configured for a single station or several, making it suitable for HD Radio operations.

The company says Skylla lets operators concentrate on producing radio and not running a computer. It works in live, satellite automated and music on hard drive automated operations

. It interfaces to the Smarts SecGen Traffic System, the Digital Program Director Music selection system and other music and traffic programs.

The company says Skylla has been in development for several years by engineers and programmers from Smarts and its sister company, On Air Digital. The companies have been migrating into Linux for several years, and report increased reliability with those products. Servers running in Linux have recorded up times of more than a year without a reset.
