Americans for Tax Reform and the 60 Plus Association support the merger of the satellite companies.

ATR is a coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose all federal, state and local tax increases. The 60 Plus Association is a seniors’ advocacy group with a free-enterprise, less-government, fewer-taxes approach to issues.

In comments to the FCC, the groups said the merger would allow the satellite radio segment of the audio entertainment business to offer a more appealing product with “new, family-friendly options” to subscribers.

“The companies have broken new ground in offering consumers the ability to block channels and receive a credit for what they have blocked, without being forced by regulation to do so, therefore creating an alternative that will appeal to people of all age groups and sensibilities,” according to Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist.
