Colombian Station Airs HD Radio Tests

An FM station in Colombia is the first in that country to air HD Radio, according to Broadcast Electronics.

Tropicana 102.9 is airing digital using BE HD Radio transmission equipment.

“The installation is part of a test granted under temporary authorization by the broadcast governing agency in Colombia, and was conducted in the country capital of Bogota, population 9 million,” BE said in the announcement

.

BE called this the first reported HD Radio installation in Colombia. The station is using an FXi 250 digital FM exciter and FSi 10 HD Radio exporter into an existing FM 20S solid-state transmitter.

The station is owned by Caracol Radio Network. BE equipment is represented by Jaime Sorzano of Broadcast Equipment and Parts.
