Apple Reportedly Signs Sony for iRadio
This article has been updated.
Apple has reportedly signed Sony Music, the last holdout, to its new Internet radio music service, reports All Things D.
CNET says it’s confirmed the report.
If true, the action means Apple now has agreements with all three major music labels for the streaming service, according to a person familiar with the talks. Apple has come to terms with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group.
The last agreement would clear the way for the tech developer to discuss what experts assume will be called “iRadio” at Apple’s developer conference next week. The product is said to be a free streaming music service that gives users some control over their listening, perhaps more than Pandora, but less than say, a full on-demand service like Spotify.
The advertising-backed product would launch later this year.
