Bott Radio Network Celebrates 50

The
Bott Radio Network is celebrating its 50th anniversary this week.
On Nov. 12, 1962, at KCCV(AM) in Kansas City, Mo., the
network was born under the founding of Dick and Sherley Bott. The Bott family is shown at right in a photo from around that time. KCCV stood for
Kansas City’s Christian Voice.
BRN encompasses 91
stations in 15 states. It is especially strong in the central U.S. — Missouri,
Kansas and Nebraska. It has an IPTV operation as well.
Dick
Bott started in West Coast radio in the early 1950s and was the general manager
of a San Francisco station in 1952. According to a BRN news release, he was the
youngest general manager of a major market station in the country at the time.
Bott began owning stations in 1957 in Monterey, Calif. He was
inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2008.
His son, Rich, took over operation of the network in 2010.
