Clear Channel, Robbins Ink Royalty Deal
|
Clear Channel Media & Entertainment and Robbins Entertainment signed an agreement on digital music royalties that also gives artists a share of on-air revenue. It’s the sixth direct agreement with a label for Clear Channel — others have been with Big Machine, Glassnote, DashGo, rpm Entertainment and Naxos. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Label executive Corey Robbins founded the indie dance/pop label in 1996. Clear Channel’s strategy will help Internet radio become a viable business, he believes. Other radio groups, like Entercom and most recently, Beasley, are beginning to sign similar deals directly with labels.
