Corus Entertainment Standardizes on iMediaTouch
|
OMT Technologies Inc.
said Canadian media biggie Corus Entertainment Inc. has purchased iMediaTouch
radio automation systems for all of its 37 radio stations in 13 markets.
Corus Radio Toronto Director of Engineering John Coldwell
told the manufacturer that standardizing on one platform “is a step toward
standardizing our libraries as well as creating increased efficiencies
throughout our radio markets.”
The publicly traded Corus Entertainment also has businesses
in pay television, television broadcasting, children’s book publishing and
children’s animation. Corus positions itself as a company that fuses new media
and radio; its marketing highlights its interactive initiatives, for instance
saying Corus was the first Canadian broadcaster to feature an iPhone streaming
app and the first to offer Apple iTunes integration through radio station
websites, enabling listeners to download content through BlackBerry devices or
smartphones.
OMT said Corus uses iMediaTouch radio automation in its
Winnipeg, Kitchener, Kingston and
Toronto facilities.
“In 2011 Corus purchased iMediaTouch for its radio
properties in Hamilton, Peterborough, Guelph, Barrie, Cornwall, London,
Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.”
Corus believes one in 20 Canadians listen to a Corus Radio
station online or on a mobile device, according to its website.
