DAR.fm, a depository of recorded broadcast radio programs, has added an Android app to the available tools.

The free Android app is called DAR Radio Downloader. It will download programs in MP3 format.

DAR.fm CEO, Michael Robertson explained: “Radio is too rigid and still forces listeners to adapt to the broadcaster’s schedule. Now with MP3 downloads directly to smartphones, the latest broadcast is always a click away on that commute or exercise time.”

DAR.fm provides MP3 downloads of, it says, 20,000 shows from 5,000 radio stations. Besides PC listening, it has apps for almost every streaming device imaginable including Apple iDevices through Palm OS and Roku. It also provides instructions on how to use Kindle and similar devices with DAR.fm.
