Fall Radio Show Tech Agenda Set
|
Wireless collocation is among the
technical topics on the agenda for this fall’s Radio Show, to be held in
Dallas.
“We are witnessing an ever-increasing demand for
tower space by wireless companies expanding service into rural areas,”
organizers wrote. “This discussion will address the requirements of the
wireless service and offer solutions that may produce new revenue streams for
broadcasters.” NAB provided an overview this week in its Radio TechCheck
newsletter; the convention is produced jointly by NAB and RAB.
Another session on Wednesday, Sept. 19, will focus on
technical regulatory issues for radio, such as EAS, LPFM, translators and
RF/OSHA safety. The National Radio Systems Committee also plans to meet that
day.
Thursday’s topics include HD Radio; implementing
Artist Experience; engineering management; and “hybrid radio.”
The hybrid radio session is described by NAB: “Several developments are
demonstrating how traditional radio broadcasting can be enhanced by other media
platforms — on-air plus online services. If embraced by broadcasters, new
devices could soon offer rich graphic and video content to supplement the audio
broadcast.”
Friday sessions feature disaster
preparedness and “Tips From the Workbench.”
