Broadcasters must pay their FCC regulatory fees by Sept. 13.

The fees are set by station class and population served; Fees for FY2012 range from $725 for a Class A AM station serving a market of 25,000 or less people to $11,500 for the FM Class B, C, C0, C1 and C2 stations serving markets of 3 million or more people. See page 19 of Attachment C.

Broadcasters must use the FCC’s electronic “fee filer” system to pay.

The commission no longer mails a reminder postcard about the fees. Those who pay late could face a 25% penalty.
