OPB Seeks VP of Engineering and Technology

OPB is seeking a vice president
of engineering and technology. The person will be the organization’s chief
technology officer and “technology strategist,” someone who can “identify and
capitalize on broadcast and digital technology solutions to advance OPB’s
business.”
The position was formerly held by Don McKay,
who retired.
The engineering team supports
a statewide distribution system, multi-channel master control systems, radio
studios and TV and radio production activities, as well as OPB’s computer, IT
systems and operations. To mention a few more key facts about the organization: There’s
a network center with its own director, four maintenance engineers and five
master control operators that answer to the VP. OPB operates a statewide network of five digital TV
stations, 45 DTV/TV translators, 16 full-service radio stations and 18 FM
translators; it maintains more than 70 remote radio sites. Chief engineers and maintenance
engineers are located in Bend,
Corvallis, LaGrande and Portland. There’s also a
four-person IT team that includes the director of IT and several other
staffers.
OPB
believes 1.5 million people each week listen to and watch OPB, with many more accessing
content online, through mobile devices and tablets, and through social
media.
This position reports to the president/CEO. The probable
salary range is between $100,000 and $115,000, depending on qualifications.
