|
Not many churches have their own FM
classical music station and Internet stream. St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, a historic and cultural centerpiece of the city,
does have its own station, Radio Stephansdom. Much of the programming
for the station originates live from the cathedral.
To
get that programming on the air or recorded, the cathedral’s audio engineers
have turned often to Austrian microphone manufacturer AKG. according to the manufacturer In the
cathedral’s mic cabinet are C414TLII, C414 ULS, C414XLS, C451B, C460B, CK47,
CK61ULS, CK62DF, CK62ULS, CK63ULS, GN30 and SE300B mics from AKG, along with
many AKG capsules and wireless microphone systems.
Martin
Macheiner, technical director for Radio Stephensdom, is quoted by AKG praising the mics for
their warmth and cleanliness, “particularly for the strings.” He added that the
AKG mics “provide the highest quality of broadcast.”
