Fledgling CBS Sports Radio has landed a
big fish. Nationally syndicated Jim Rome has agreed to come aboard the new sports
talk network starting Jan. 2, 2013.
Rome has long been a
top host through years of daily appearances on Fox, ESPN and most recently
syndicated daily by Clear Channel’s Premiere Networks on some 200 stations. Starting in January Rome will be syndicated by Cumulus.
According to a release, “The Jim Rome Show” will air daily,
noon–3 p.m. Along with a daily show, according to the release, Rome will provide
60-second hourly commentaries and content for other CBS sports media
properties.
CBS Radio President and CEO Dan Mason stated
in the announcement that Rome “would be at the top of any list highlighting
sports radio’s most authoritative and opinionated hosts.”
