Internet audio portal TuneIn says it’s marking two “major growth” milestones.

Firstly is a note that TuneIn has reached 40 million monthly active listeners. This has been achieved in the wake of a series of program expansions including acing programmers such as Cox Media Group, Emmis Communications and CBS Radio.

A release pointed to significant growth in TuneIn listening on mobile devices. 

The second milestone is the securing of $16 million in additional funding from General Catalyst Partners, Jafco Ventures, Google Ventures and Sequoia Capital. Sequoia Capital is a long-time investor in TuneIn.
