WUSF Public Media, a public broadcasting and multimedia company licensed to the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla., announced the acquisition of Health News Florida, an online, nonprofit daily news source, and said Health News Florida founder and editor Carol Gentry will continue her work with the publication.

WUSF Public Media will integrate archives from its Healthy State Collaborative project with those of Health News Florida prior to the official launch of the new website, which is scheduled for November, a release said. Until then, Health News Florida will continue to publish at its current web address.

According to Gentry, joining WUSF provides Health News Florida with the opportunity to expand into audio and video platforms. The collaboration also aims to help the publication with its financial management, fundraising and information technology needs.
