Mulligan Takes Post With CBA

4.11.2008

Connecticut broadcasters have a new person looking out for their interests regarding emergency services — or more accurately, a familiar person in a new role.

The board of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association recently approved creation of the new position of VP of emergency services and named Wayne Mulligan to fill the position, according to the organization. He is recently retired from Buckley Broadcasting.

He will continue as the State Emergency Communications Chairman, which he has been for a decade. He also chairs CBA’s EAS Committee and will take over chairmanship of the association’s AMBER Alert Study Committee.

“This is a natural fit because Wayne, along with Chief Kevin Searles from Windsor, was the founder of our state’s original AMBER plan back in 2001,” wrote association President Mike Rice in the organization’s newsletter.

“Wayne will also become CBA’s liaison with several national organizations and agencies that handle EAS and AMBER issues. He will be responsible for CBA’s technical training associated with our traditional Engineer’s Day and within our annual convention program.”

Rice added, “I’ve long felt that the issues we face in the emergency warning area are the bedrock of our localism. With the next version of EAS right around the corner and many housekeeping issues needing closure with our EAS and AMBER plans, CBA and our state need the focus and attention of one person to speed up progress.”
