The voices are speaking up to help a good cause.
Joan Baker, in partnership with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will present “Voices Remember,” a charity event on April 28 in New York in support of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
The gala will be held on Central Park South at the residence of Ron Pobuda, president and founder of National Audio Video Inc., and a producer/director. New York-based ad agency Push Creative Inc. is co-sponsoring the event.
Voice-over artists including Don LaFontaine (the “movie trailer guy”), Rodd Houston (Verizon Wireless) and Steve Zirnkilton (NBC’s “Law & Order”) are scheduled to appear. The evening’s proceeds benefit The Alzheimer’s Association.
“Performers whose careers and livelihood depend on their vocal talent will honor and remember those who have lost their voices to Alzheimer’s disease,” said Baker, who wrote a book on voiceovers. The author said she organized the event as part of her continuing efforts to fight Alzheimer’s after her father succumbed to the disease in 2003.
