| Library of Congress Names Cokie Roberts ‘Living Legend’ |

The Library of Congress will honor columnist and author Cokie Roberts with a “Living Legends” award as part of its ceremony to mark the opening of the interactive “Library of Congress Experience” (www.loc.gov/experience), April 12 at the Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington.
Roberts is senior news analyst for NPR and political commentator for ABC News. She received the Edward R. Murrow Award for radio and was the first broadcast journalist to win the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for coverage of Congress.
Established during the Library’s Bicentennial celebration in 2000, the “Living Legend” award honors public figures for contributions to America’s diverse cultural, scientific and social heritage. Awards will be presented by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington; and Master of Ceremonies and formerly inducted Living Legend Mickey Hart, the Grateful Dead percussionist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
Also being honored: race car driver Mario Andretti, civil rights activist Julian Bond, musician Herbie Hancock, historian David McCullough, baseball player/manager Frank Robinson and TV newsman Bob Schieffer.
