| Time for ‘The Jesus Christ Show’ to Go National |

Premiere Radio Networks hopes to score a weekend hit with “The Jesus Christ Show,” a new offering going into syndication on June 1.
It is produced by Neil Saavedra, who created the program at KFI(AM) in L.A. in 1998. He came to the station four years before that as an intern and has a “reputation as the station’s resident theologian,” according to the syndicator.
“The program is described as ‘interactive radio theater,’ an experience designed to engage and inspire listeners and callers to learn more about themselves and the historical person of Jesus,” Premiere states.
The company, owned by Clear Channel, quotes Saavedra saying the program “isn’t just some Sunday morning religious show. It’s fresh and contemporary in content and execution.”
A Premiere affiliate official said in the announcement, “While the name of the show is irreverent, the content is anything but.” She said the program is consistently the top weekend show in Los Angeles.
It will continue to air for three hours on KFI early on Sunday mornings.
