A public radio documentary produced by the Stanley Foundation and KQED Public Radio won a top 2008 National Press Club Award. “Beyond Fear: America’s Role in an Uncertain World” was awarded the National Press Club’s Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence. Kristin McHugh and Keith Porter of Muscatine and Simon Marks of Washington produced the documentary.
Audio of the program is available online at www.stanleyfoundation.org/radio. The National Press Club evaluated 203 entries in 27 categories. This is the third consecutive year a Stanley/KQED program has earned the award. “24/7: The Rise and Influence of Arab Media” was awarded the honor in 2007, and “Security Check: Confronting Today’s Global Threats” took the prize in 2006.
The awards will be presented at a National Press Club dinner in Washington on July 14. Past winners include Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, Fareed Zakaria and the Chicago Tribune.
The list of winners is available at npc.press.org.
