Pick Your Square: Wheatstone Offers E2

4.25.2008

Wheatstone says its new E2 Ethernet audio system is aimed at stations that want to incorporate traditional broadcast engineering functions into the emerging IT environment.

The system is designed to interface with Wheatstone’s line of E-Series control surfaces including the Evolution 4 Control Surface. E2 comprises linkable units or “squares” that communicate by Cat-5E/6 cable connected to standard layer 3 Ethernet switches.

Components include the E2 Digital Engine, which handles mixes from the E-Series surfaces while housing the DSP power and managing the distribution of program, aux and mix-minus busses.

Twelve Universal Logic ports are encased in the single rack unit, which offers front-panel access to control of IP setting, up time, network traffic and logic status. Web/PC software user interfaces provide remote access and control.

Features include DSP for mixes, SNMP capable, Setup Wizard and front-panel bus metering.

Wheatstone also offers the 88ad, the analog/AES I/O square; 88d, the AES square; and 88a, the analog square. The 88ad has four analog input and four analog outputs as well as four AES inputs and four AES outputs. Features include virtual mixing, SNMP capability, silence detection on output, Web interface and headphone output.

The 88d has eight AES inputs and eight AES outputs. Each can be connected via DB25 or RJ-45 connectors. It has 12 Universal Logic ports. Front metering allows the user to monitor inputs or outputs.

The 88a has eight analog input and eight analog outputs. Features include profanity delay on outputs, silence detection on outputs, Web interface, headphone output, front-panel metering and Setup Wizard.
