| BE Exporter Has Features for HD-R Transition |

Embedded Exporters were a big part of the news at the recent NAB Show.
Broadcast Electronics says its XPi 10esp with on-board signal processing replaces current PC-based HD Radio exporters.
New models from BE and three other transmitter manufacturers are the result of a cooperative effort between the manufacturers, Ibiquity Digital Corp. and the NAB HD Radio Technology Advancement Task Force, which provided technical direction and funding for the project.
BE says the XPi 10esp offers features important to the evolution of HD Radio, including encoding for Arbitron PPM measurement of main as well as new multicast channels. It is based on an embedded signal processing design for increased reliability and affordability. Its embedded design eliminates the use of consumer operating systems and PC hardware such as hard-disk drives and audio cards, according to BE.
The XPi 10esp now is standard in BE HD Radio FM systems. It is being offered to NAB member stations at a 20 percent discount.
“This is an excellent example of the industry coming together as a community to drive HD Radio adoption in the small- to medium-sized markets by reducing the cost of HD Radio implementation,” said Debra Huttenburg, vice president of business development and marketing for BE.
