Harris says its new DMB 670-4000 transmitter addresses a growing international need for higher-power DAB and Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting multimedia transmitters.

With twice the power of the Harris DMB 670, the 4 kW DMB 670-4000 supports international regions that use the T-DMB standard to transmit mobile TV and digital radio from the same transmitter. The company is displaying the DMB 670-4000 at the show.

Harris’ compact DMB 670 transmitters support the delivery of multiplexed DAB digital audio and T-DMB mobile TV channels to mobile, handheld consumer devices. They are available in power levels from 500 watts to 8 kW; share an architecture and components from the Harris ZX range of common amplification transmitters; and are RoHS-compliant. Additionally, they offer Harris-designed amplifiers, power supplies and cooling features.

The DMB 670 transmitter can interface with headend equipment to build a solution for the encoding, multiplexing and transmission of multiple digital audio and video channels in a single transport stream. Factum Electronics of Sweden is providing the headend compression and multiplexing equipment to enable T-DMB demonstrations at the Harris booth.
