IDC Upgrades Papua New Guinea Radio Network

09.23.2008

International Datacasting Corp. (IDC), in partnership with United Group Infrastructure: Communication Systems, is upgrading the Papua New Guinea radio network with SuperFlex professional radio distribution technology.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. (ABC), working with the AusAID development agency, is working to upgrade the radio capabilities of its neighbor across the Torres Strait.

IDC's SuperFlex Pro Audio system includes uplink/head-end equipment and DVB-S/S2 professional satellite radio receivers. It uses DVB-S/S2 technology to provide bandwidth savings of greater than 30 percent on satellite transponders. It also features MPEG-4 HE-AAC encoding to provide high quality audio.

The system uses NetManager, IDC's over-the-satellite network management system, to interface with and remotely control the SuperFlex audio receivers. NetManager securely maintains and updates system configuration information and can control individual receivers and update system configuration information.
